Anjihai Grand Canyon
The majestic Anjihai Grand Canyon is located near the town of Kuitun, 250 km west of Urumuqi. The Anji Haihe River that flows through the valley originates from the Tianshan Mountains. With its rich color and changeful shadow over this area, Anjihai Grand Canyon is like a flowing impressionistic masterpiece which cuts the earth into colorful scars.
Located in Tekes County and on the Tianshan Mountains’ slopes, Qiongkushitai Village was added into the list of China’s historic and cultural villages by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the State Administration of Cultural Heritage in December 2010 for its splendid history and natural beauty. Qiongkushitai is home to herdsmen of China’s Kazak ethnic group. The grassland features many gullies, various flowers and forests, which jointly form an astonishing picture in front of the visitors.
Bayinbuluke means ‘fertile water’ in the Mongolian language. It is situated in central Xinjiang, in the hinterland of Tianshan Mountain ranges with the altitude between 2,300 and 3,100 meters. Melting snow from the surrounding mountains abundantly waters the lush grassland of 100,000 hectares. This region is populated by 9 ethnic minorities such as Mongolian, Han, Tibetan, Ha etc., and home to reportedly 60% of the worlds swan population. The legendary scenery of crisscrossed streams is truly iconic.
Out in the desert of Northwest China’s Gansu Province lies some of the most unique geological formations in the world. Topping the list for uniqueness without a doubt is the Zhangye Danxia National Geopark, among which lies the Rainbow Mountains, a colorful display of layered rock hills formed over 24 million years of natural erosion. The sand and mudstone mountains that make up the geopark are like nature’s sand art. Covering an area of over 400 square kilometers, it is composed of lots of smooth and sharp cliffs, most of which are several hundred meters high, and cliffs look very powerful for their neighbors are plains and rivers. Brilliant colorful stripes lay in perfect lines rolling over the many peaks and valleys of the landscape.
